January 28, 2016 PENSACOLA, Fla. – All five starters for the University of West Florida women's basketball team registered at least 13 points, while four of five starters recorded double doubles to help lift West Florida over Lee University, 89-85 in a double overtime contest on Thursday evening.

Toni Brewer,
Courtney Meyer and
Alex Coyne all posted double doubles as the feat marks the second occasion this season UWF has had at least three players tally double doubles in a single game. Bobos recorded 19 points in addition to grabbing 12 rebounds, Brewer scored 17 points with 11 rebounds and Meyer contributed 13 points and 12 boards. Coyne posted game-highs in points, with 20, and assists, with 12. Coyne's 12 helpers set a new career-high for the Pittsburgh native.
All five of the Flames starters also contributed double-digit point totals, led by Christina Johnson and Erin Walsh who posted 17 points apiece. Johnson led the way for Lee on the boards, reeling in a game-high 13.
West Florida (12-6, 10-4 GSC) and Lee (13-6, 10-4 GSC) shot the ball at nearly identical rates, with UWF converting on 44.9% (31-69) of attempts, while Lee shot 44.4% (32-72) from the floor. Rebounds were also nearly even, as the Flames held a slight 47-46 advantage on the glass. UWF shot 31.3% from three in comparison to Lee's 38.9% success rate. Coyne was the catalyst in UWF's long-range efforts, going 4-9 (44.4%) from beyond the arc.
West Florida broke out with a hot start in the first quarter, jumping out a 25-14 lead in the first 10 minutes. Bobos posted seven points and five rebounds in the first quarter to set the tone in the early stages for the Argonauts. UWF would go to the locker room at halftime with a 47-33 lead, however Lee was able to make a comeback in the second half and force overtime with a deadlocked 69-69 score at the end of regulation.
After UWF and Lee would battle to a 76-76 score at the end of the first overtime period, Lee would control the beginning of the second overtime period after jumping out to a 81-78 lead. With 2:19 remaining,
Kelly Preston converted on a layup to cut the lead to 81-80. On the ensuing possession, Coyne was able to snag one of her career-high eight steals and find Brewer to give UWF an 82-81 lead. UWF would not allow Lee to regain the lead for the remainder of the second overtime period, as consistent free throw shooting eventually put the game out of reach and sealed West Florida victory.
UWF now sits in a tie for third place in the Gulf South Conference with Lee, only trailing first place Union and second place Delta State.
The Argonauts now look towards a Saturday afternoon contest with Shorter, which is slated for a 2:00 p.m. start at the UWF Field House. The UWF-Shorter men's basketball contest will follow after the conclusion of the women's game.
