ROTATION OF SCORING 

?Four of the five starters for UWF currently average above 10 points per game - Austin Somerfield (14.0), Mario Stramaglia (11.4), Jelani Pruitt (10.8) and Rashaan Benson (10.1) have all been solid scoring options for the Argos thus far. The lone player not in double figures is graduate student Lendward Griffin (9.8).

? The Argonauts have only had those five players lead the team in scoring in any game this season. Somerfield seven times, Benson and Pruitt four times, and Griffin and Stramaglia once.

 

ABOUT SHORTER

? Shorter comes into the game at 10-10 overall and 5-9 in the league - two games out of eighth place. The Hawks defeated Valdosta State, 105-97, on Thursday behind 38 points from leading scorer Phil Taylor. Chris Daniels added 26, including two layups and a 6-of-7 effort at the FT line in the final 2:41.

? Taylor leads the GSC with 26.1 ppg and is ninth with 49.5 shooting from the floor. His 43 3-pointers are fifth in the league and his 42.2% from outside is third. The transfer from FIU has six 30-plus point games and 10 more in the 20s. 

? The Hawks have four other players averaging in double figures in Trevor McDade (14.0), Chris Daniels (13.0), Alijah Bennett (11.1) and Amonte Porter (10.7). Daniels is the team's leading rebounder with 7.2 rpg.

 

SERIES HISTORY VS SHORTER

? UWF and Shorter are playing for the eighth time in men's basketball on Saturday, with the Hawks holding a 5-2 series lead. West Florida is 4-0 at home against the Hawks.

? The Argos won the first two games in the series, sweeping both contests in 2012-13. The Hawks have won the last five.

LAST MEETING: Shorter shot 56 pct and outscored UWF by 10 in each half en route to a 88-68 win at the Wintrop-King Centre in Rome, Ga. on Dec. 14. The Hawks used a 14-5 run late in the first half to push the lead from one to 10 points. UWF never glot closer than seven in the second half. Suatin Somerfield led UWF with 14 points but played just two minutes in the first half after picking up a pair of fouls. Phil Taylor had 21 points, six assists and four steals for SU.
