MEMPHIS, Tenn. – The West Florida men's basketball team fell behind by 17 points in the opening five minutes and was unable to recover, dropping a 87-56 contest to Christian Brothers at Canale Arena Monday night.

UWF (2-9, 1-7 Gulf South) missed its first seven shots and had two turnovers in its first seven possessions. The Argonauts closed the gap to 23-13 with a 10-2 run just past the midway point of the half but CBU answered the with a 14-0 run that put the margin over 20 points for the remainder of the game.

UWF shot 39 percent and was just 1 of 9 from outside, missing their first eight attempts before Josh Laastch ended the game with a 3-ball from the left wing.

Jelani Pruitt posted his second double-double of the year with 25 points and 10 rebounds, while
Austin Somerfield also reached double figures, finishing with 13 points on 4 of 5 shooting.

CBU (7-7, 5-3) had its best scoring half of the season, aided by nine 3-pointers to take a 52-27 lead into the intermission. Adam Dieball led the team with 19 points and was perfect on all four of his shots from outside.

The Bucs outrebounded the Argos, 35-27 and scored 21 second chance points as a result of 12 offensive rebounds. They also converted 21 points off 13 UWF turnovers.

UWF will return to action next weekend when it welcomes West Alabama and West Georgia to Pensacola on Saturday and Monday, respectively. Both doubleheaders with the UWF women will begin at 2:00 p.m.
