Katie Bobos posted her third-consecutive 18-point game as West Florida hung on to defeat Christian Brothers, 58-55, at Canale Arena Monday night.

UWF (8-4, 6-2 Gulf South Conference) won its fifth-straight overall and third-straight on the road but had to hold off a late rally from the Lady Bucs. The Argos led by as many as 16 late in thw first half but saw their shooting go cold as CBU got to within one with three seconds remaining before Bobos secure the victory with a pair of free throws.

UWF shot 39 percent in the game but didn't help itself with 11 of its 17 turnovers after halftime.

Courtney Meyer had nine points and 12 rebounds, helping UWF control the glass with a 42-32 edge.
Alex Coyne and
Toni Brewer had seven apiece.

After falling behind 7-2 in the opening 4:05, UWF took command of the game, closing the first quarter on a 10-4 run for a 12-11 lead. The Argos continued to apply pressure, scoring the first 14 points of the second quarter as they extended their lead to 26-11 with 3:19 remaining. CBU battled back to trim the deficit to 33-21 at the half.

UWF got production from up and down the roster as all nine players who saw first half action score. The Argos also had five fast break baskets and was perfect on all six free throw attempts.

As well as UWF played in the opening 20 minutes, its effort in the third and much of the fourth was less than desirable. The Argos shot just 3 of 10 and were outscored 14-7 in the third as their lead was cut to 40-35.

The Argos scored the opening five points in the fourth quarter, only to see the Lady Bucs answer with five of their own to make it a 3-point game, 45-42 at the midway point of the frame. As good as UWF was from the charity stripe in the first half, they struggled and missed five freebies in the final minute before Bobos made the final two of the game.

CBU (5-7, 3-5) was led by Samantha Reeves' game-high 22 points and five rebounds.

UWF will return to action next weekend when it welcomes West Alabama and West Georgia to Pensacola on Saturday and Monday, respectively. Both doubleheaders with the UWF men will begin at 2:00 p.m.
