UWF Stays Perfect in Conference with 4-0 Win Over North Alabama

Bartlinski gets 450th career victory in the win

PENSACOLA, Fla. – The University of West Florida women's soccer team improved its record to 5-0 in Gulf South Conference and moved to 7-3 overall with a 4-0 win over North Alabama on Sunday afternoon. With the win, head coach Joe Bartlinski celebrated his 450th career victory, adding to 195 wins across 12 seasons as the head coach at Brevard.

"I've had tremendous players over time who have battled hard for each win, and I've had fantastic assistants," Bartlinski said of the milestone. "Today's game was a great example of that. The big assist goes to father time."

Bartlinski has coached 29 All-Americans, 75 All-South Region players and 27 GSC All-Academic players, while earning NSCAA National Coach of the Year honors twice. He now has 255 wins at UWF, which gives him 155 more than the next-closest coach in GSC history. Bartlinski is the winningest active coach in DII women's soccer, with an .842 career winning percentage. He has also been named the GSC Coach of the Year five times in his career.

West Florida has outscored GSC opponents 19-0 in conference matches this year and is averaging 3.8 goals per game in GSC contests. The team is outshooting the opposition 22-4 while tallying 22 corner kick opportunities.

Sophomore Savanna Soares scored the first goal of her career with a header off a corner kick from Kaljit Atwal in the 79th minute to stretch the UWF lead to 3-0. She struck again just nine minutes later, putting a laser shot into the upper 90 and marking the third multi-goal game for a UWF player this season.

Emily Vogler started the scoring for UWF with a sixth-minute goal, and the Argonauts never looked back. Atwal assisted on that goal as well, giving the Birmingham, England, native the first multi-assist game of her career. Vogler's goal was the 10th of her career, and her four goals this season are a career-best.

Senior forward Kaley Ward scored her seventh goal of the season, moving her into a tie for second place in the GSC in goals scored. Her score in the 22nd minute was her seventh in her last eight games, and she has an eight-game point streak, dating back to the third game of the season on September 9.

The UWF back line was in top form on Sunday, allowing just five UNA shots, only one of which was on target. Keeper Katelyn Burkhart's record improved to 6-1, and the native of Pace, Florida, has posted a 0.60 goals against average in seven starts this year.

West Florida will visit Shorter and No. 6 Lee on Friday and Sunday of next weekend to continue GSC play.
