ROME, Ga. Emily Vogler's goal with 2:45 remaining in regulation was both a sigh of relief and the tally that pushed the University of West Florida women's soccer over the Shorter University Hawks 1-0 on Friday evening.
 
West Florida improves to 8-3 on the season while maintaining a perfect 6-0 Gulf South Conference mark.
 
Vogler's goal, which was her fifth of the season, came off a Sara Helgadottir corner kick, as Helgadottir registered he seventh assist and point of the season.
 
Vogler's shot was UWF's 20th of the evening. The Argonauts had just two of its 11 shots on target in the first half, but improved upon that in the second half by posting six of its 11 shots on goal in the second half.  
 
The backline of Vogler, Svenja Burkhardt and Georgia Bailey prevented the Hawks from even getting a shot off and made goalkeeper Katelyn Burkhart's night easy. West Florida also held an advantage in corners, 10-0.
 
UWF awaits a high-profile matchup on Sunday against Lee in Cleveland, Tennessee at 12:30.
