CLEVELAND, Miss. Emily Vogler's goal in the 18th minute proved to be the game-winner for West Florida over Delta State in Saturday's regular-season finale. With the 4-0 victory, UWF (14-4, 11-1 GSC) claimed hosting duties for the semifinal and final rounds of the Gulf South Conference Tournament, which will begin on Friday at the UWF Soccer Complex.

West Florida and 2-seed Lee receive first-round bye bids, while 3-seed Mississippi College, 4-seed West Alabama, 5-seed Union and 6-seed West Georgia, will play first-round games on Tuesday. UWF will face the winner of the match between West Alabama and Union on Friday at 5 p.m., and that game will be followed by a matchup between Lee and the winner of the Mississippi College-West Georgia game.

UWF is the only team in conference history to reach all 21 Gulf South Conference Tournaments.

Vogler's eighth goal of the year, and her league-leading fifth game-winner, came off a Sara Helgadottir corner kick, who picked up her 12th assist on the play. Her 12 assists stand behind only Marjorie Boilesen's 14, the last of which the freshman added on a Kaljit Atwal goal in the 35th minute. Boilesen, the GSC points and assists leader, and a five-time GSC Freshman of the Week, netted a goal of her own in the 39th, giving her 10 on the year. Alisa Festagallo picked up an assist on the goal, giving her three on the year.

GSC leading goal-scorer Kaley Ward finished the scoring for West Florida, snagging her 13th goal of the season, and she has now scored six goals in as many games.

Goalkeeper Katelyn Burkhart went 73 clean minutes in net before she was relieved by senior Emily Grammer, who finished things with a perfect 17. Burkhart has garnered four solo shutouts this year, though she has played a part in 12 for UWF this year. The junior from nearby Pace, Florida, looks to finish the year in the GSC lead for goals against average, currently at 0.37. If she accomplishes the feat, it will mark the 12th time in just the 21-year history of the Gulf South Conference that UWF keeper has done so.

For the eighth time this year, UWF scored at least four goals, and all eight of those games have been shutouts, as well. Seven of the eight have been in conference play, with the other one coming in the season-opener against Tampa.

With the shutout on Saturday afternoon, UWF became the seventh team in GSC history to allow 1 or fewer goals in conference play in a single season, which was last done by UWF's 2007 squad that outscored league opponents 36-1. This year's team won the scoring battle 38-1 and led the league in scoring offense in conference play for the 11th time in program history.

West Florida's clean sheet over Delta State also marked the team's 13th shutout of the year, which ranks ninth in the single-season GSC record books. Postseason performance is accounted for in the record book, so UWF could still move higher.

UWF's 11 conference wins are a single-season league record, as well, besting the 10-win conference seasons from West Florida in 2005, North Alabama in 2014 and 2015, and Lee in 2015.

Single-game passes for tournament games at UWF will be $5 and weekend passes will be $8, including those for students and Argonaut Athletic Club members.
