MOBILE, Ala. – Mobile's Casey Culver spoiled the University of West Florida men's soccer team's Tuesday night by scoring the golden goal in the 107
th minute to give the Rams a 2-1 win.
The Argonauts (3-5) started off on the right foot with
Marteinn Urbancic's 14
th minute goal to put UWF up 1-0. The goal was Urbancic's team-high fourth of the season.
As regulation was winding down, Mobile delivered a game-changing blow in the 84
th minute with a goal from Newton Henry to tie the score at 1-1 and eventually force overtime..
West Florida pressured offensively throughout the game, including a second half that featured 10 shots. UWF also outshot the Rams 7-4 over the course of the two overtime periods.
Chandler Castleman and
Isaiah Lopez provided a steady amount of pressure, with Castleman's 10 shots and Lopez's three shots on goal each being game-highs.
Phil D'Amico matched his season high with four saves in goal. UWF's backline forced Mobile's attack to be modest throughout the match, forcing the Rams to be called for 10 offsides.
West Florida jumps back into Gulf South Conference play this weekend with a pair of pivotal matches against Shorter and Lee.
