UWF Claims Sole Possession of First Place After 1-0 Win Over No. 6 Lee

CLEVELAND, Tenn.  – Someone's '0' had to go on Sunday afternoon, as the University West Florida and Lee University women's soccer teams entered the contest with perfect Gulf South Conference records.
 
Marjorie Boilesen was quick to set the tone for the match, as her 25-yard, free-kick strike past Flames' keeper Haley Gribler put West Florida up 1-0 in the match early. West Florida would go on to hang on for the remaining 86 minutes, as Boilesen's tally would be all the offense UWF would need to secure the victory.
 
West Florida now improves to 9-3 on the year, while maintaining its perfect 7-0 GSC mark. Lee falls to 8-2-1 an suffers its first GSC loss and is 5-1 in the league.
 
Boilesen's goal is her eighth of the season, good for second most in the GSC, and most amongst players on the Argonaut roster.
 
The backline of Svenja Burkhardt, Emily Vogler, Bri Young and Georgia Bailey made goalkeeper Katelyn Burkhart's afternoon very easy, as UWF prevented Lee from posting a shot on goal for the entire match.
 
Burkhart improved to 8-1 on the year, while posting her third shutout of the season.
 
The Argonauts posted its third consecutive shutout, and have blanked its opponents in six of its last seven matches. In its last four conference matches, the Argonauts have allowed just a single shot on goal.
 
West Florida will be off until next Friday, when it makes the trip to Auburn-Montgomery. Women's soccer will also play sunday, when it hosts Spring Hill for a men's and women's doubleheader at home.
