PENSACOLA, Fla. – With two down in the bottom of the ninth inning, senior third basemen Jimmy Redovian picked an optimal time to hit his first home run of the season by launching one over the centerfield wall and handed UWF a 1-0 victory over Stillman College on Wednesday night.

Redovian, who entered the game as a pinch hitter in the fourth inning, hit his second home run as a member of the Argonauts to provide the offense. The Franklin, Tennessee native is now hitting .348 (8-23) on the year, including two extra-base hits and five RBI.

UWF (9-6, 4-2 GSC) sent four freshmen to the mound on Wednesday, beginning with Troy Brown who threw the first three innings. Brown only surrendered one hit while striking out four and lowered his season ERA to 4.00 in the effort.

Following Brown would be Gulf Breeze natives Garrett Peek and Gray Dorsey, who each hurled two scoreless innings. Peek would surrender two hits while striking out two, while Dorsey allowed one hit and recorded one strikeout.

Cole Crowder recorded his fourth appearance of the season, getting two innings of work and allowed one hit with two strikeouts. Crowder, who got his first collegiate win, got into a bit of a jam in the top of the eighth as Stillman threatened with a bases loaded situation. However the southpaw was able to get Tigers first basement Taylor Ellis to fly out to left fielder Jean Figueroa to end the threat.

Stillman (2-15, 0-0 SIAC) was held to just five hits for the game. UWF pitchers recorded nine strikeouts on the afternoon while walking just two batters.

Second basemen Nic Strasser provided a 2-for-4 day at the plate, while shortstop Alex Greene hit a single to right field in the bottom of the third to extend his hitting streak to 11 games.

West Florida now awaits an away series with North Alabama, who sits atop the Gulf South Conference standings with a 5-1 league mark. First pitch of Saturday's double header in Florence, Alabama is scheduled for 1:00 p.m., with Sunday's single game also starting at 1:00 p.m.
