BOX SCOREPENSACOLA, Fla. – The No. 6-ranked University of West Florida women's tennis team defeated No. 28 Concordia (N.Y.) 5-0 at home on Saturday afternoon. West Florida (14-2, 6-0 GSC) improves to 5-2 against nationally ranked opponents this season with the win.
Freshman
Valeria Mantilla (Bogotá, Colombia) and junior
Hannah Toro (London, England) improved to 3-0 on the year by defeating Stefanie Canals-Baker and Antonia Conze 8-4 at number one doubles.
Senior
Nina Bubelova (Povazska Bystrica, Slovakia) and junior
Paula Lopez (Tucumán, Argentina) won their ninth straight match and improved to 14-1 on the year by defeating Linda Eliasson and Kaja Tegtmeier 8-4 at number two doubles.
Senior
Katarina Dikosavljevic (Queensland, Australia) and freshman
Dianna Vlad (Oberhausen, Germany) defeated Valeriia Cheban and Costanza Mecchi 8-4 at number three doubles.
Dikosavljevic improved 1-1 against nationally ranked opponents and 9-3 on the year by defeating No. 26 Mecchi 6-1, 6-3 at number one singles. Bubelova won her sixth straight match and improved to 9-3 on the year with a 6-0, 6-0 win over Conze at number two singles.
West Florida will next play host to No. 1 BYU-Hawaii on Thursday, March 31 at 1 p.m.
UWF will then host four Gulf South Conference opponents next weekend. UWF will play host to Delta State and West Georgia on Friday, April 1 at 10 a.m. and 2 p.m., respectively. The Argos will then host Mississippi College and Christian Brothers on Saturday, April 2 at 9 a.m. and 12 p.m., respectively.
