BOX SCORE PENSACOLA, Fla. – The No. 6-ranked University of West Florida women's tennis team defeated Shorter 7-2 at home on Friday. West Florida (8-1, 5-0 GSC) earns its 60
th straight Gulf South Conference victory and improves to 5-0 on the year in conference play this season.

Nina Bubelova (Povazska Bystrica, Slovakia) and junior
Paula Lopez (Tucumán, Argentina) improved to 7-1 on the year with an 8-4 win over Julie Rinderknech and Cassandra Wennestrom at number two doubles while senior
Sarai Flores (Mexico City, Mexico) and freshman
Valeria Mantilla (Bogotá, Colombia) defeated Daniela Chipe and Sicquena Sinclair 8-6 at number three doubles.
Freshman
Dianna Vlad (Oberhausen, Germany) and senior
Katarina Dikosavljevic (Queensland, Australia) fell to Agnes Brun and Ornella Frere at number one doubles by a score of 4-8.
Lopez improved to 7-1 on the year with a win over Frere in a tightly contested match at number one singles by a score of 4-6, 6-3, 6-3.
Flores improved to 8-0 on the year with a 6-1, 2-6, 6-2 win over Wennestrom at number three singles while No. 42 Bubelova swept Monika Gredzinski 6-0, 6-0 at number four singles.
Heather Mixon (New Iberia, La./Catholic HS) remained unbeaten in her freshman campaign with a 7-6 (3), 6-1 win over Chipe at number five singles. Mixon now stands at 7-0 on the year in singles play.
Mantilla improved to 3-0 on the year by defeating Rinderknech 6-2, 6-1 at number five singles while Vlad fell at number two singles to Brun by a score of 4-6, 4-6.
West Florida will next play host NCAA Division I opponent Eastern Kentucky in an exhibition match on Sunday, March 13 at 11 a.m.
