PENSACOLA, Fla. – The University of West Florida men's soccer team will continue Gulf South Conference play this weekend with a pair of contests in Mississippi. UWF will take on Mississippi College on Friday at 4 p.m., before facing Delta State on Saturday at 2:00 p.m.
 
D'AMICO RECOGNIZED AS GSC FOTW
- Freshman goalkeeper Phil D'Amico was named GSC Freshman of the Week on Tuesday, becoming the first Argonaut in 2016 to win a weekly conference award.
- Last year UWF won two Freshman of the Week awards, with Stephen Enderlin and Kameron Bethell each garnering the honor a season ago.
- D'Amico played a key part in UWF's first win of 2016, recording a shutout against Union in a 2-0 victory against the Bulldogs. D'Amico recorded on save as the backline allowed just one shot on target.
 
ON THE LINE
- UWF and Mississippi College enter their Friday afternoon contest as the only teams with unblemished GSC records... All other teams who have started GSC play have recorded at least one loss... Lee, West Alabama, Shorter and UAH have yet to start conference play as of Thursday afternoon.

PUT IT ON THE BOARD
- UWF recorded its first win of the 2016 season after defeating Union 2-0
- Marteinn Urbancic recorded his first career multi-goal game in the effort, scoring in the eighth minute and 57th minute.
- The UWF line of defenders held the Bulldog attack in check, allowing just one shot on goal in the contest. 

HISTORY IN MISSISSIPPI
- West Florida is 6-2 all-time when playing in Mississippi, and have outscored those opponents 21-8.
GSC HISTORY
- The upcoming weekend marks the beginning of Gulf South Conference play... UWF looks to improve upon a sixth place finish in 2015 with a 4-5 record.
- UWF is the winningest program in GSC history, owning a 236-99-34 all-time record and .686 winning percentage while a member of the GSC... UWF is a conference-best 90-29-11 (.734) all-time in GSC play.
- West Florida's 22-7-1 record in GSC Tournament action is the best record in the conference's history... UWF's nine GSC Tournament titles is the most in conference history... The next closest team is Christian Brothers, who has three in its history.
- UWF is the only active GSC program to record a win in the NCAA Division II Tournament.

FRESHMEN FOCUS
- Of the 3960 available minutes of playing time, freshmen and redshirt freshmen have seen 1381 minutes of action so far in three games, taking up 34.8% of playing time this year.

SERIES HISTORY VS. MC
- UWF is 1-1 all-time against Mississippi College
- The Argos won last year's contest against Choctaws in double overtime, as Felipe Oliveira posted the game-winning goal to give UWF the 2-1 win.

SCOUTING MC
- Mississippi College is most recently coming off an 11-1 win over Pensacola Christian.
- MC is 3-1-1 on the season, which includes a 5-0 win over Delta State in GSC play.
- MC is led by Jorge Delgado, who has six goals on the year. Defensively, Humberto Pelaez has a 1.18 goals against average with a .783 save percentage.

SERIES HISTORY VS. DSU
- UWF is 12-3 all-time against Delta State.
- DSU took a 2-1 decision in overtime in 2015's meeting.
- UWF opened the all-time series against DSU with a 10-game winning streak. West Florida outscored DSU 49-10 during that streak.
- Delta State has won three of the last five matchups, including a pair of overtime wins.
- West Florida has outscored DSU 60-19 in the all-time series.

SCOUTING DSU
- Delta State is 2-3 on the season, and will play Spring Hill on Friday night before hosting UWF on Sunday.
