PENSACOLA, Fla. – The University of West Florida men's soccer team will continue Gulf South Conference play this weekend with a pair of contests in Mississippi. UWF will take on Mississippi College on Friday at 4 p.m., before facing Delta State on Saturday at 2:00 p.m.
D'AMICO RECOGNIZED AS GSC FOTW
- Freshman goalkeeper
Phil D'Amico was named GSC Freshman of the Week on Tuesday, becoming the first Argonaut in 2016 to win a weekly conference award.
- Last year UWF won two Freshman of the Week awards, with
Stephen Enderlin and
Kameron Bethell each garnering the honor a season ago.
- D'Amico played a key part in UWF's first win of 2016, recording a shutout against Union in a 2-0 victory against the Bulldogs. D'Amico recorded on save as the backline allowed just one shot on target.
ON THE LINE
- UWF and Mississippi College enter their Friday afternoon contest as the only teams with unblemished GSC records... All other teams who have started GSC play have recorded at least one loss... Lee, West Alabama, Shorter and UAH have yet to start conference play as of Thursday afternoon.

- UWF recorded its first win of the 2016 season after defeating Union 2-0

Marteinn Urbancic recorded his first career multi-goal game in the effort, scoring in the eighth minute and 57th minute.

Felipe Oliveira posted the game-winning goal to give UWF the 2-1 win.

- Mississippi College is most recently coming off an 11-1 win over Pensacola Christian.
- MC is 3-1-1 on the season, which includes a 5-0 win over Delta State in GSC play.
- MC is led by Jorge Delgado, who has six goals on the year. Defensively, Humberto Pelaez has a 1.18 goals against average with a .783 save percentage.
