PENSACOLA, Fla. –
Toni Brewer registered a double-double and
Shami Goodman led 20th-ranked UWF in scoring for the second-consecutive game to help the Argonauts to a 69-65 come-from-behind win over Mississippi College at the UWF Field House Thursday.
UWF (13-3, 8-2 Gulf South) needed runs of 11-3, 9-0 and 12-0 to overcome a strong shooting Mississippi College squad. The Argonauts' final run was the push it needed to get overtake the visitors. Trailing by five with less than four minutes to play in the third quarter, UWF went on its largest run with a dozen-straight to grab a 56-49 lead with 18 seconds in the frame.
Midway through the final period, the Lady Choctaws led 62-58 before another strong run powered the comeback. This time it was seven-straight, keyed by four from Goodman to tie it before three free throws from
Alex Coyne and Brewer. UWF never trailed again and was 4-of-4 at the line in the final two minutes.
Brewer ended the night with 12 points and 13 rebounds for her 12th double-double of the season, while Goodman had 18 points on 7-of-12 shooting off the bench. Coyne had 11 points and nine assists while making all six free throws.

Katie O'Neal each finished with eight points.
UWF shot 43 percent in the contest and held a 44-36 rebounding margin.
The win marked the 75th for head coach
Stephanie Lawrence Yelton at UWF. She is now 75-54 in five seasons with the Argonauts, including 69-33 since the 2013-14 campaign for a .677 winning pct.
Mississippi College (8-6, 5-5) saw its 5-game win streak come to a close as it shot 41 percent. Ashley Minor led the Lady Choctaws with 18 points and Olivia Mabry had 15 on 7-of-8.
UWF fell behind 8-2 in the first quarter before an 11-3 stretch led to a 21-21 score after the first 10 minutes. MC grabbed its largest lead of the game at 36-27 thanks to a 15-6 run midway through the second. The Argos got their aforementioned 9-0 run to knot the contest at 36 before the Lady Choctaws netted five of the final seven to take a 41-38 lead into the locker room.
UWF will return to action on Saturday afternoon when it plays host to Delta State (7-8, 4-6) at 2:00 p.m.
