CLEVELAND, Tenn.
– Five UWF players reached double figures, including four starters, but the Argonauts dropped a 89-86 double-overtime decision to No. 24 Lee at Walker Arena on Monday.

UWF (10-3, 5-2 Gulf South) shot 33 percent and was just 27-of-40 from the free throw line as it saw its four-game winning streak come to an end.

Freshman Imani Mulmore led the Argonauts in scoring with a career-high-tying 20 points. Sophomore Katie O'Neal had 18 points with nine at the foul line and a couple of clutch 3-point plays near the end of regulation. Junion Toni Brewer had 15 points, while classmate Courtney Meyer added 12 and a career-high 20 rebounds and senior Katie Bobos finished with 11 points and 10 boards.

UWF held a slim 59-52 rebounding edge and used 19 offensive boards to fashion a 17-9 edge in second chance scoring.

"It was a hard fought game today and it shows a lot of heart and guts to take a competitive team like Lee into double overtime on their home court," UWF coach Stephanie Lawrence Yelton said. "We left some points on the free throw line which hurt down the stretch."

Lee (10-3, 5-2) shot 37 percent and connected on 10-of-31 3-pointers, with Erin Walsh making four en route to a game-high 26 points.

With the score tied at 67 and 3.8 seconds left in regulation, UWF got a lob pass into Meyer on the low block but both of her attempts were off the mark, sending the teams into the first extra session.

The Argos grabbed an 80-77 lead with 3:20 to play in the second overtime thanks to a Bobos triple in the corner and a Brewer jumper from the left elbow. But the momentum quickly shifted to the home team as Lee scored three baskets and a pair of free throws for an 8-0 run to lead 85-80 with 30 seconds remaining.

UWF got to within two points on its next two possessions after baskets by Mulmore but couldn't get any closer. Mulmore's 3-pointer at the buzzer was off the mark.

The Argonauts had their largest margin in the game late in the fourth quarter, twice leading by six points and the latest coming with 1:47 on the clock. The Lady Flames scored the final six points of regulation.

UWF will travel to West Alabama on Thursday night for a 5:30 p.m. contest at Pruitt Hall.
