BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – UWF quarterback Mike Beaudry was named the GSC Freshman of the Week on Monday, following a standout performance against North Alabama last weekend.

Beaudry had a very complete game in leading UWF to a 30-7 win over North Alabama for the biggest win in program history. He had 194 yards on 18-of-30 passing with three touchdowns. The rookie out of Oviedo, Florida also rushed for 12 yards on four carries.
 
His scoring passes went to Carlos Duclos for 28 yards in the second quarter to put UWF ahead 13-7, to Rodney Coates for 31 yards in the third and a 20-7 lead and to Kevin Grant on a 7-yard crossing route in the fourth to seal the 30-7 win. He completed passes to 10 different players and had six balls of at least 15 yards.
 
Beaudry has thrown for 1,974 yards with 246 yards per game. He ranks in the top four in the GSC in completions, attempts, passing yards, yards per game, touchdowns and passing efficiency – and is the highest freshman in each list as well.
 
He has previously been named the Freshman of the Week following top performances against Delta State and Shorter.
 
UWF improved to 6-3 on the season and clinched a winning season in the second year of the program. They are 4-3 in the GSC and will close out the regular-season this Saturday when they travel to West Georgia (8-2, 5-2). Kickoff at University Stadium in Carrollton, Georgia is at 2:00 p.m. Eastern Time.
