PENSACOLA, Fla. – The UWF football program can add one more first to its early successes following its inaugural season in 2016. Former standout
Anas Hasic signed a free agent contract with the Kansas City Chiefs on Saturday, becoming the first Argonauts in school history to accomplish the feat.
The Phoenix, Ariz. native spent one season at UWF and was one of the top wide receivers in the country. He started all 11 games for the first-year program and finished with 719 yards on 46 catches and a team-high eight touchdowns. He was sixth in receptions and yards, and tied for second in scores. In the national ranks, the 6-0, 210-pound speedster ranked 114th in yards and 65th in receiving touchdowns.
"I am very happy for Anas," UWF head coach
Pete Shinnick said. "He has worked very hard for this opportunity and I know he will do a great job for the Chiefs. Having a player go to an NFL team in our first year just adds to the excitement of building our program."
He had three games over 100 yards receiving with career-highs of 181 yards and three touchdowns at Chowan on Sept. 17.
Hasic came to UWF in the spring of 2016. He previously played at North Carolina Central as a junior in 2014 and at Scottsdale Community College as a freshman and sophomore in 2012 and 2013.
