BOCA RATON, Fla. – The seventh-ranked UWF women's tennis team posted a very impressive 5-0 victory over Benedict in the first round of the NCAA South II Regional at the Perper Tennis Complex at Lynn University Monday.
UWF (24-6) got three doubles and two singles victories to advance to the regional final for the ninth-consecutive season. The Argonauts will face second-seeded and third-ranked Lynn on Tuesday at 10:00 a.m. Eastern time.
UWF wasted little time against Benedict, posting 8-0 wins at the No. 2 and 3 doubles spots before making it a clean sweep with an 8-4 win from the nation's 23rd-ranked team in
Paula Lopez and
Paula Coyos.
In singles play, UWF was leading in all six matches when the first two contests finished, giving the third-seeded Argos their tenth shutout victory this season.
Diana Vlad won 6-0, 6-1 at No. 4 and
Samantha Echevarria didn't drop a game in a 6-0, 6-0 decision at No. 6.
