CLEVELAND, Miss. – University of West Florida men's soccer cruised past Delta State 6-0 Saturday at Parker Field. The Argos will begin play in the GSC Tournament in the semifinals Nov. 2 at Auburn Montgomery. UWF has earned a first-round bye and will enter the tournament as the second seed.
UWF (11-3-2, 9-1-1 GSC) scored early and often in Cleveland.
Andrew Wentz opened the scoring with his fifth goal of the season in the sixth minute.
Sean Hoffstatter followed less than two minutes later with his GSC-best 17th goal of the year.
Teague Coleman made it 3-0 in the 14th minute. The goal was his second of the road swing and second of the season.

Gavin Gillies punched home late goals to give the Argos a 5-0 lead heading to the half. Hoffstatter, Godoi, Mills and Coleman picked up first half assists. UWF outshot the Statesmen 11-4 in the first half.
Ed Chappe stayed perfect from the penalty spot this season, completing the 6-0 margin in the match's 76th minute. The goal was his 10th of the season.
Jihad Gomes picked up the win in net for the Argos. He made two saves in 90 minutes, withstanding five shots (two on goal). The shutout was the sixth of the season for Argo keepers, the most for the program since 2010.
The nine conference wins are the most for the program since 2013. UWF has now scored 54 goals this year, tied for the 10th-most in program history. Delta State finishes the season 3-12-2 and 1-9-1 in GSC play.
UWF will begin the GSC Tournament Friday, Nov. 2 at Auburn Montgomery. The team will take on either sixth-seed West Alabama or third-seed Alabama Huntsville. Time for the semifinal match is TBD.
