Wooten Scores Two to Secure the Win

PENSACOLA, Fla. – The Argos defeated the Shorter Hawks by a final score of 4-0 on Sunday afternoon. The win helped extend two impressive streaks for the Argonauts. UWF has now won 19 consecutive regular season games, and are 12-0 this season. Goalkeeper Esthefanny Barreras and the rest of the UWF defense have now recorded eight shutouts this year.

FIRST HALF: Fresh off earning an award for National Player of the Week in Division Two, West Florida Freshman Peyton Peffers put the Argonauts on the board in the third minute of the match with a header goal off of an assist from Jessica Quixley. Senior Sam Waarum had an assist on the play as well. Freshman Sami Goffi scored her first goal of the season in the 35th minute off of a beautiful pass from Grace Busby to put the Argos up two.

SECOND HALF: UWF Sophomore Hannah Wooten had a second half she'll never forget. In the 63rd minute Wooten scored her first goal of the season off a corner kick from Sam Waarum. Wooten wasn't done yet though, as she scored her second goal of the season in the 89th minute to extend the Argonaut lead to four. Victoria Swift and Grayson Sheets picked up assists on the last goal by Wooten.

OVERALL STATS: West Florida had ten corner kicks this afternoon and held the Hawks to zero. UWF outshot Shorter 20-2, and the Argos' defense didn't allow the Hawks to get a single shot on goal.
