ATLANTA, Ga. – UWF men's basketball fell in its opening game at the Arthur J. McAfee Memorial Classic Saturday, dropping a contest vs. host Morehouse 72-60. The Argonauts return to action tomorrow at 2:00 p.m. ET/1:00 p.m. CT vs. Lane College.
 
The Argos (3-5, 0-2 GSC) were led by Jarrett Henderson, who netted a season-best 14 points on 4-of-6 (.667) shooting from the field and 6-of-10 (.600) shooting from the line. Rashaan Benson scored 13 points and grabbed four rebounds in 26 minutes of action. Anthony Gomes notched 10 points on 4-of-7 (.571) shooting from the field and 2-of-2 shooting from deep.
 
UWF began the game on a 14-9 run in the first nine minutes. The Argos took a 32-30 lead to the locker room at halftime. West Florida was 5-of-10 (.500) from beyond the arc in the first. The defense limited Morehouse to just a 5-of-16 (.313) mark from deep in the first 20 minutes.
 
The contest stood tied 42-42 with just over 12 minutes remaining. Morehouse (6-1, 1-1 SIAC) broke the contest open with a 22-11 run in just under 10 minutes beginning with 12:02 on the clock. The Maroon Tigers were led by Robert Andrews, who notched 23 points. Omar Alston posted 13 points and eight boards.
 
The UWF bench outscored Morehouse 27-18. Morehouse outrebounded West Florida 37-30.
 
The Argonauts return to action vs. Lane College (6-3, 4-0 SIAC) tomorrow at Morehouse to wrap the Arthur J. McAfee Memorial Classic. Tip is slated for 2:00 p.m. ET/1:00 p.m. CT. Links for live stats and video are available through GoArgos.com.
