CARROLLTON, Ga. – The UWF women's basketball team suffered through a disappointing shooting day as it fell to West Georgia, 73-53, at The Coliseum on Saturday.
UWF (15-7, 10-7 Gulf South) shot just 30 percent and was outscored 27-11 in the second quarter, resulting in a deficit the Argonauts couldn't overcome.

Shaniqua Magee was the only player to score in double figures for UWF, finishing with 10 points in 13 minutes off the bench. Classmate
Courtney Meyer had nine points and eight rebounds.
West Georgia (14-10, 10-7), meanwhile, shot 53 percent and scored 44 points in the paint, compared to 22 for UWF. The Wolves were led offensively by Aysha Harris' 16 points on 7-of-9 shooting. Kayla Carter finished with 15 points and six assists.
The Argos came out of the gates on fire, grabbing a 9-2 lead in the first three minutes. After trading scores, the Wolves closed the first quarter on a 9-2 run that tied it up at 13.
Back-to-back UWG baskets to star the second period gave the home team its first lead since 2-0. The Wolves eventually used a 14-3 stretch to extend their advantage to 31-18 at the midway point of the frame. Harris scored the final five point of the half to send UWG into the locker room with a 40-24 lead.
UWF has now split the first two games of a 3-game road swing. The Argonauts will travel to Clinton, Miss. on Wednesday night for a contest at Mississippi College (8-15, 4-13). That game at Wood Coliseum is scheduled for a 5:30 p.m. start.
