PENSACOLA, Fla. – The University of West Florida softball team will take the 68-mile drive to Mobile, Alabama, for a midweek doubleheader against Spring Hill on Wednesday afternoon. The doubleheader is scheduled for a 1 p.m. first pitch at Murray Field.

ABOUT LAST WEEK
* The UWF offense was as strong as ever when West Florida went 2-1 against Union after falling in a two-game series at North Alabama on Monday. The Argonauts hit .405 and slugged .679 against UU, and UWF tallied 14 extra-base hits in the three-game set.

Callan Taylor hit a team-high .571 (4-7) in the series with a clutch two-run single in the final game, which ultimately turned out to be the game-winner.

Tori Perkins led UWF with four runs scored, two home runs, five RBIs, and nine total bases in the series, after going yard in each half of the Saturday doubleheader. Perkins also threw five innings and struck out seven batters in Game 2, picking up the win and holding Union to just three runs.

Sarah Maloney capped off the series finale with a complete game one-hitter, while she struck out seven and allowed Union to hit just .048 in the game. She dominated throughout the game, striking out 5 of the first 10 batters she saw, and her performance pushed her into the team lead in ERA, complete games (3), wins (4), innings pitched (41.1), strikeouts (37) and opponent batting average (.221).
AGAINST SPRING HILL
* Spring Hill enters the doubleheader with an 8-6 record and a perfect 3-0 mark in Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference play after sweeping Kentucky State at home two weekends ago. The Badgers are 3-3 in their last six contests, with the first two of those being a split against West Alabama in Mobile.
* Delaney Thomas leads Spring Hill in batting (.395), hits (15), doubles (6), walks (10) and on-base percentage (.520), while Brooke Vosloh leads the team with 13 runs scored, 7 stolen bases and a .564 slugging percentage.
* Hannah Brenton has been the primary arm for SHC in the circle, throwing 52.2 innings with a 1.59 ERA and six wins. She has struck out 27 batters and has held opponents to a .228 average, and her first two complete games of the year were in wins against Shorter and Lee at the Gulf Coast Invitational in early February.
* West Florida is 8-4 all-time against Spring Hill and shut out the Badgers 17-0 in three games between Pensacola and Mobile last year. UWF has won five games in a row against SHC.
IN THE CIRCLE
* West Florida's pitching staff has been one of the best in the country this year, with a 1.79 team earned run average that ranks second in the Gulf South Conference and 19th in Division II.
* Maloney,
Olivia Printiss and
Grace Gilbert each have ERAs at 1.63 or better and opponent batting averages under .250, and Maloney and Gilbert lead the team with four wins apiece.
* Each member of that trio ranks in the top 10 in the Gulf South Conference in ERA, while Maloney is ninth in the league in innings pitched (41.1), fourth in total strikeouts (37) and second in strikeouts looking (16).
