CLINTON MISS.- No.10 West Florida triumphed over Mississippi College in at Clinton, Miss, 3-0 (25-19, 25-19, 25-22) in the second GSC match for the Argos on the season.
Makila York had 10 kills to lead the UWF offense followed by Nadine Williams with 9 kills and Caleigh Morrison with 8 kills. The Argos hit a .382 in the match compared to last weeks .167.
The Argos opened in the first scoring first, but MC was competing well all the way up to the 20th point where the Argos pushed to the finish with Taylor Vaneekeren serving and four Argos getting kills in the last five points to win 25-19.
In the second, UWF sprung a lead 8-3 early on. The Choctaws tied it at 9-9 and then the Argos pushed ahead to gain the lead and take the win 25-19. Makila York, and Phoebe Hozeska each had four kills in the frame.
In the fourth set, the teams traded the points up until 13-13 where Hozeska killed the ball fed by Brogan Wallin to get the Argos back on a run to build their three point lead that led them to victory 25-22.
The offense was spread this match with no one person having more than 18 attack attempts. Hozeska hit a .700 with seven kills on ten attempts, York hit a .667 with ten kills on 15 attempts and Morrison hit a .412 with eight kills on 17 attempts.
The Argos defense was relentless. UWF blocking is unbreakable as they out blocked the Choctaws 8-0 for the match. Williams and Logan Kael led in digs with 17 and 11.
UWF (9-4, 1-1 GSC) will return to action at West Alabama (8-3, 2-0 GSC) this Sunday afternoon. First serve in Livingston, Ala. is at 3:00 p.m.
