BOX SCORE
PENSACOLA, Fla. – The University of West Florida men's soccer team made it four wins in a row Friday at the UWF Soccer Complex, racing past Pensacola Christian 7-0. Sean Hoffstatter netted a hat trick for the second straight game, and the Argos outshot the Eagles 34-3.
The goals came early and often for an Argonaut club that has now scored 19 times over the course of the four-game winning streak. Ed Chappe (two goals) and Hoffstatter (three) combined for five goals in the game's first twenty minutes to give UWF an advantage that was never in doubt.
Rafael Godoi picked up a pair of assists in the big first half, and UWF held a 6-0 lead at the break. Chandler Castleman also scored in the first half. The Argos outshot the Eagles 23-1 in the game's first 45 minutes.
Alik Morgan netted the only goal of the game's second half, striking at the 50' mark for his first goal of the year. Hoffstatter, who also netted a hat trick last Sunday vs. Christian Brothers, now stands at eight goals for the year, the most in the Gulf South Conference.
Jacob Murray, Tanner Kukes and Jihad Gomes all appeared in net in the game for UWF, with Gomes making the only save of the game among Argo netminders. Chappe has now scored three times over the last two games and registered eight points over the last four matches. Pensacola Christian dropped to 0-8 with the loss.
UWF (4-2-1) will get the rest of the weekend off before hitting the road to face Auburn Montgomery September 28 and Montevallo September 30.
