Quixley scores 2 goals on Sunday, giving her 3 goals on the Weekend

Valdosta, Ga. – UWF defeated Valdosta State on Sunday afternoon by a final score of 3-0. All three goals came in the second half for the Argonauts. The 3-0 victory extended their winning streak to 8 games, and gave them their fourth shutout of the season. West Florida is now (4-0-1) at the VSU Soccer Complex and (7-1-3) all-time against the Blazers.

FIRST HALF: West Florida dominated the time of possession in the first half, but were unable to strike the back of the net. They had 8 total shots, whereas Valdosta State was held to just one shot. The game was scoreless at the half.

SECOND HALF: Jessica Quixley scored the first goal of the game in the 59th minute, with a header that was off of a corner kick from Sam Waarum. Waarum and Quixley weren't done yet though, as they combined for another goal less than two minutes later. Waarum crossed one to Grace Busby, who then passed it to an open Quixley. Quixley struck the back of the net to put the Argonauts up 2-0. Freshman Lee Ducharme picked up her third goal of the season in the 66th minute thanks to a beautiful assist by Isabella Garcia-Salas. All of the goals were scored within seven minutes of each other.

Sophomore Jessica Quixley now has five goals this season, and Senior Sam Waarum has five assists this year. The Argos' defense shutout both West Georgia and Valdosta State this weekend.
