Peffers’ Two Goals Help Lead the Argos Past the Warhawks

Five Different Argonauts Score Goals

Montgomery, Ala. – West Florida extended their winning streak to 9 games on Friday night, after beating Auburn-Montgomery 6-2 at the AUM Soccer Complex. The Argonauts are now (3-0) all-time against the Warhawks.
 
FIRST HALF: UWF completely owned the first half of this match, outscoring the Warhawks 4-0. Victoria Swift got things started for the Argos with a goal in the 27th minute with a strike inside the box. Eight minutes later Robyn Herman picked up her second goal of the season, giving the Argonauts some separation. Freshman Peyton Peffers tacked on two more goals before the half to give West Florida a comfortable lead going into the half, 4-0.

SECOND HALF: In the second half both teams scored twice, making the final score 6-2. Deneisha Blackwood scored her second goal of the season, off of an assist from Jessica Quixley to increase the Argos' lead. Freshman Kendall Bobbitt joined in on the scoring frenzy, by scoring her first goal of the season in the 60th minute.

OVERALL STATS: West Florida had twelve corner kicks, while Auburn-Montgomery only had one. The Argos outshot the Warhawks 31-8. This is the first game all season that West Florida had allowed more than 1 goal.
 
NEXT UP: UWF will finish their road trip on Sunday at 1pm CT against the 4-3-2, (3-2) Montevallo Falcons at the Georgine Lemak Soccer Field. The Falcons are coming off an overtime upset win against #19 ranked Lee University and a 4-0 victory over Spring Hill College on Friday night.
