PENSACOLA, Fla. – UWF men's basketball dropped its Saturday evening contest vs. GSC foe Montevallo 72-56.
Bryan Chalifoux had a career-high 18 points. The Argos will travel to Delta State and Mississippi College this upcoming week before returning home Jan. 17 for a 7:30 p.m. vs. Shorter.
"Really disappointed in our effort, and I thought our intensity was poor. Our emotion was poor, and we're not good enough to play without those things," said UWF head coach
Jeff Burkhamer.
Jarrett Henderson scored 11 points on 4-of-8 shooting from the field. He also grabbed seven rebounds.
Rashaan Benson posted 11 points, seven assists and four rebounds.
Brett Carter Jr. recorded eight points and three assists.
Chalifoux's 18 points eclipsed his previous collegiate career high of 14, which he initially set in a Defc. 18, 2017 vs. the Falcons. He had matched that total in the opening game of 2018-19 vs. Fort Valley State.
UWF (4-10, 0-6 GSC) will travel to Delta State (8-4, 4-1 GSC) for a Thursday contest. Tip is slated for 7:30 p.m. The game will be the first time the two programs have met since last year's GSC final, which the Argos won in double overtime 71-65 for the first Gulf South Tournament title in program history.
"It's going to be another very difficult game, and we've got to play with a lot more toughness and a lot more intensity and enthusiasm to have a chance," said Burkhamer.
The team will travel on to Mississippi College (4-6, 1-4 GSC) Saturday at 4:00 p.m. The team returns home for the first of four more home games this month at 7:30 Jan. 17 vs. Shorter (2-11, 0-5 GSC).
