The donor spotlight of the month is Chad Bailey. Chad is a graduate of the University of West Florida and has a son who currently attends school at the university. Chad is a
Gold UWF Football Founder and has made a gift to name the Bailey Family Champions Corridor in the New Gooden Center. Here are a few things he had to say about UWF:
Q: Why do you give to UWF Athletics?
A: I give to UWF Athletics because two of my biggest joys are athletics and UWF. I really feel that our support is truly appreciated by the entire university, which means something to me on many levels.
Q: How does being a graduate of UWF impact your giving?
A: Earning my MBA and being a Graduate Assistant in Recreation assisted me in getting where I am today. Couple that with the fact that I had two incredible mentors and teachers at West Florida in Bill Healey and Dave Scott, and I feel like the only right thing to do is to give back to the people and school that gave me a chance.
Q: What impact do you think your gifts to name the Bailey Family Champions Corridor has on Argo student-athletes?
A: If anything it should show every student that with hard work, dedication and passion anything is possible. Just 20 years ago I went from moving back home after obtaining my MBA at UWF and living in my parent's basement to now being the President of the Akron Auto Auction which employs over 255 people as well as the President of the National Automobile Auction Association which represents over 340 auctions in North America? If this isn't an example of the Great American Dream…I don't know what is! I hope that every time my son Cole, who is a Freshman at UWF, walks by that sign, I have made him proud as well as my entire family.
Q: What makes you passionate about UWF Athletics?
A: My passion for UWF Athletics is their true "Commitment to Excellence". Earning over 101 Conference titles is a truly remarkable achievement and I am just glad to be a part of it in my own little way.
In addition... I am truly blessed to have an incredible wife in Tracie, an 8th-grade son Caden who is truly amazing and to top it off, our oldest son Cole, who is currently a freshman in the Honors Program here at UWF. I am honestly one of the luckiest men on the earth! GO ARGOS!!!
