St. Leo Volleyball
Hoover, Ala. – The Argonauts opened the 2019 GSC/SSC Crossover Tournament with a loss to St. Leo. UWF still can come out on top this weekend if they come out on top tomorrow against Barry and Embry-Riddle.
UWF now moves to 7-0 in the GSC and 15-6 overall. St. Leo moves to 14-5 overall and 6-3 in the SSC. UWF is now 6-7 with SLU in their overall matchups.
UWF had a tough match tonight against St. Leo who we have a lot of history with in crossover tournaments. West Florida lost respectively in 25-19, 25-15, 25-15 decisions to the Lions.
Top hitter tonight was tied with two Argos; transfer Junior Natasha Bannister and Freshman Veresia Yon each with six kills. Following them was Ebony Powers with three kills.
Junior Ashton Marshall cleaned up in the back row with 14 digs followed by senior Jordyn Poppen with nine digs.
Tomorrow the Argos will play against Barry at 11:45 am on court 3 and then they will wrap up the tournament playing Embry-Riddle at 7:00 pm on court 1. Barry is currently 11-5 overall and 6-2 in the SSC and Embry-Riddle is 10-2 overall and 6-2 in the SSC.
