LIVINGSTON, Ala. – The Argos lost to West Alabama on Sunday afternoon after the Tigers scored three goals in the second half to defeat UWF by a final score of 4-3. The loss has dropped the Argonauts to 5-3 in Gulf South Conference play this season and 8-4 overall.
FIRST HALF: West Alabama struck first scoring thirty-seven seconds into the game off a goal from TeMia Pride. The Argos tied things up at one off a header goal from
Peyton Peffers. Anita Danielsdottir got the assist on the play. Freshman
Ashley Forbes gave the Argonauts the lead in the 38
th minute.
SECOND HALF: The Tigers had an impressive second half scoring three goals to beat the Argos in a back and forth contest. UWF had one goal in the second half, as Danielsdottir scored off an assist from Peffers in the 70
th minute.
OVERALL STATS: UWF outshot West Alabama 13-12. For the first time this season an opposing team had more corner kicks taken than West Florida, as UWA had five and UWF only had two.
NEXT UP: The Argonauts will return home next weekend to take on Valdosta State next Friday at 7:00pm CT and host West Georgia on Sunday at 12:30pm CT. Valdosta State is (6-5) overall and West Georgia is (4-7-1) this season.
