Pensacola, Fla- The 14th ranked UWF Men's Soccer team could do no wrong on Monday night, as they cruised to a 10-0 victory over the visitors from Pensacola Christian at the UWF Soccer Complex on the campus of West Florida.
The Argos improve to 10-2-1 on the year while the loss drops PCC to 10-8.
In a game where the Argonauts outshot the Eagles, 46-8, the scoring started early and often. After a few chances just missed, senior
Andrew Wentz broke the scoreless drought in the 25th minute to put the Argonauts up 1-0. Less than a minute later, forward
Sean Hoffstatter picked up his sixth goal of the season on two assists. The rout would be on from there as three more would be punched in by the blue and white to cap off the first half at 5-0.
The second half would be more of the same for UWF with many different players seeing action including
Jared Birr,
Mathias Ferraz and
Tulio Canineu getting in the game. It would continue to be more of the same as
Joshua Sauer made it 6-0, 10 minutes into the second half.Â
Teague Coleman,
Teavon Spencer, Canineu and Ferraz would put the finishing touches on the match for West Florida. West Florida could've had more but there was a strong performance from the Eagles goalkeeper Adam Lund, who had 17 saves.
Even though they were rarely tested, the strong backline of
Jerry Wiltshire,
Brandon Jose, and
Lucas Barankiewicz displayed strong play in front of sophomore goalkeeper
Jihad Gomes as the Brazilian native only had to make three saves in the contest.
Next Up: West Florida will get a few days off before they return to action on Friday, November 1st to host GSC foe, Spring Hill. The match-up between the Argonauts and Badgers is set for 6pm from the UWF Soccer Complex.
