Women’s Soccer Beats Montevallo to Begin Homecoming Weekend

Argonauts will Host Auburn-Montgomery on Sunday

PENSACOLA, Fla. –The Argos shutout Gulf South Conference opponent Montevallo by a final score of 1-0 on Friday night to start off homecoming weekend for the University of West Florida. The victory will move UWF in front of Montevallo in the GSC standings, ranking them tied for third in the conference.
 
FIRST HALF: The first half was all defense as both teams were held scoreless. West Florida outshot Montevallo 8-4 and had two corner kicks in the first half.

SECOND HALF: The only goal of the match came in the 67th minute when UWF Midfielder Eni Nadia Kuchambi Tengwan scored to give the Argonauts the lead. Senior Isabella Garcia-Salas and Anita Danielsdottir picked up assists on the play.

OVERALL STATS: West Florida had the advantage in time of possession with 61% and outshot Montevallo 15-7. UWF finished with a season-low five total corner kicks in tonight's match, and held the Falcons to three.
 
NEXT UP: The Argos will continue their weekend road trip by hosting Auburn-Montgomery at the UWF Soccer Complex on Sunday at 3pm CT. Auburn-Montgomery defeated Spring Hill 3-0 on Friday night for their first victory of the season, improving to (1-6) overall this season. UWF is (3-0) all-time against Auburn-Montgomery, and is 1-0 when facing them at the UWF Soccer Complex.
