PENSACOLA, Fla. –The Argos dominated Auburn-Montgomery on Sunday afternoon by defeating the Warhawks by a final score of 11-0. Nine different Argonauts scored goals, with both Anita Danielsdottir and
Eni Nadia Kuchambi Tengwan scoring twice. West Florida took completed Homecoming weekend with two wins to improve to 6-2 overall this season.
FIRST HALF: The UWF soccer program achieved history today by scoring three times, five minutes into the match.
Kaila Armstrong,
Jessica Quixley and
Kendall Bobbitt each scored to put the Argos up 3-0. Danielsdottir scored in the 19
th minute to increase the lead to four.
Peyton Peffers got in on the scoring parade with a goal of her own in the 26
th minute. Senior
Grayson Sheets scored her first goal of the season in the 33
rd minute.
SECOND HALF: Kuchambi scored two goals back to back to begin the second half, scoring in the 45
th minute and the 54
th minute. Danielsdottir picked up her second goal of the match in the 70
th minute off assists from
Isabella Garcia-Salas and
Ann-Marie Schwaner. Schwaner scored her first goal of the season in the 78
th minute off an assist from
Lee Ducharme to put the Argos up 10-0. Junior
Hannah Wooten scored the final goal of the day in the 88
th minute on a laser that hit the back of the net from outside the box.
OVERALL STATS: West Florida had the advantage in time of possession with 63% and outshot Auburn-Montgomery 42-1. UWF took fourteen total corner kicks in today's game, and held the Warhawks to none.
NEXT UP: The Argos will hit the road to visit Shorter on Friday night at 7:00pm ET in Rome, Ga. and Lee University on Sunday at 1:00pm ET in Cleveland, Tenn. Shorter is 0-8 overall and Lee is 6-2 this season. Lee was ranked number five nationally according to the United Soccer Coaches' Division II Poll last week.
