Women’s Soccer Finishes Regular Season with Loss to No. 5 Mississippi College

Argos Start GSC Tournament on Tuesday at West Alabama

PENSACOLA, Fla. – West Florida fell to No. 5 Mississippi College on Saturday afternoon by a final score of 2-0. This was the Argos' first loss at home this season, and were the first goals that their defense allowed at the UWF Soccer Complex this year as well. UWF ends the regular season 11-5 overall and 8-4 in conference. The Argos will now turn their attention to Tuesday afternoon, where they will travel to Livingston, Alabama to take on West Alabama in the first round of the Gulf South Conference tournament at 7pm CT.
 
FIRST HALF: The Choctaws got on the board in the 38th minute, when Lauren Kate Carter scored from inside the box. This was the only goal of the half. West Florida was outshot by Mississippi College in the first half 10-7.

SECOND HALF: Mississippi College added onto their lead in the 85th minute, when Erin Hederman scored to put the Choctaws up two. UWF outshot Mississippi College 9-4 in the second half, but were unable to find the back of the net.

OVERALL STATS: UWF outshot Mississippi College 16-14 in today's match. West Florida only had three corner kicks this afternoon, while the Choctaws had four.
 
NEXT UP: The Argonauts will play West Alabama at Tiger Stadium in the first round of the Gulf South Conference tournament on Tuesday night at 7pm CT. West Alabama is (12-4-1) overall, and (10-2-1) in conference play. West Florida lost to West Alabama in a high scoring affair, earlier in the season 4-3. The winner of this match will face the winner of #2 Montevallo and #7 Christian Brothers on Friday in Pensacola, Florida.
