Pensacola, Fla.- The UWF Men's Soccer dropped Sunday's Gulf South Conference Tournament Final by a score of 1-0 to Lee University, in front of a large crowd at Ashton Brosnaham Park.
The win gives Lee (12-4-4) the automatic berth to the NCAA Regional while the Argonauts (13-2-3) will await their NCAA Tournament fate. The NCAA Selection Show will take place on Monday night at 5:30pm.
UWF outshot the Flames by a total of 14-8, with UWF collecting three shots on net. Argo goalkeeper,
Jihad Gomes, had three saves of his own during the match.Â
GSC freshman of the year,
Davi Alves, led West Florida in shots with five. First team All-GSC had three, while midfielders
Ed Chappe and
Bernardo Torres each had two.
The game was scoreless until the 81st minute when Lee defender Yotam Babul came through late with a header off a corner from midfielder Jared Mcwhorter to break the scoreless tie.
