PENSACOLA, Fla. – The UWF women's basketball team trailed by as many as 10 points in the fourth quarter and battled back with a chance to tie the game in the closing seconds before turning the ball over, suffering a 48-45 loss to Alabama Huntsville at the UWF Field House Tuesday night.
UWF (3-7, 0-4 Gulf South) scored nine-consecutive points early in the fourth to pull within 40-39 but was unable to overtake the Chargers in the final six minutes.
The Argos shot 30 percent in the game and made 10-of-16 free throws. They used 19 offensive rebounds to score 15 second chance points.
Sophomore
Fanny Hulmi had her second career double-double as she finished with 12 points and 10 rebounds. Junior
Danielle Norquest continued her string of consecutive double-doubles with 12 points and a career-high 18 – the most by an Argonaut since
Toni Brewer accomplished it twice in the first month of last season.
UAH (5-4, 3-1) was held to just five points in the first quarter before regaining momentum with a 22-8 margin the second frame. The Chargers shot 28 percent in the game and were outrebounded 50-31. Selena Pruitt scored 12 points to lead UAH.
UWF will head to Saint Leo, Fla. for the Saint Leo Classic this weekend. The Argos will play Roberts Wesleyan (5-5) on Friday and Southern Wesleyan (0-8) on Saturday. Both games will be played at Noon Eastern Time.
