SAINT LEO, Fla. –
Ashaunti Brown and
Danielle Norquest each had a double-double to lead UWF past Southern Wesleyan, 59-45, in the Saint Leo Hampton Inn Classic at the Marion Bowman Center on Saturday.
UWF (4-8) shot 50 percent in the second half and used an 11-0 run early in the third quarter to build a sizeable lead that the Warriors couldn't overcome.
Brown had an outstanding day, finishing with 13 points and 13 rebounds – both career bests – as she recorded her first career double-double. Norquest continued her strong play, as her line of 19 and 11 was her ninth double-double overall and seventh consecutive.
Additionally,
Rachel McCree connected on three 3-pointers for the second-straight day and finished with 11 points, while
Faithe Franklin was a monster on the boards with a career-best 15 to go along with her seven points.
SWU led 26-25 at the half before UWF scored 11 unanswered early in the third to grab a 36-29 lead. The Argonauts later added a 16-2 stretch in the fourth to put the game away.
SWU (1-10) shot 27 percent and were led in scoring by Brooke Henricks' 15.
UWF will be off for 10 days before traveling to face Valdosta State on Thursday, Jan. 2. Tipoff at The Complex in Valdosta, Ga. is set for 5 p.m. Eastern Time.
