Jehan and Nancy have been a loyal Argo supporters since 2014, as well as an advocates for scholarship and department support. Why do you give to UWF Athletics?
I give to UWF Athletics because I believe it helps the entire university. I have supported efforts to generate endowed scholarships, to help specific teams, and I have been a part of major initiatives like Football Founders and Champion Circle. I feel that all of these contribute to the overall benefit of the university. Scholarships help relieve a partial financial burden a student-athlete may have and allow them to focus more on both their sport and their studies. Certain teams have specific needs, and by helping to support those needs, it allows the team to be stronger, enjoy their sport, and know that their hard work is appreciated. Playing a role, even a small one, in something like Football Founders helps to build the momentum needed to pull off such a big lift of starting a new program. Each of these areas helps the university as a whole, as it helps create better athletes and scholars, stronger and better trained teams, and much needed programs that enhance the overall student experience. Additionally, giving to the university creates a bond between both current and former students-athletes, faculty, and alumni.
Why do you continue to give annually?
I continue to give because I can see the good that it does. I see the trophies, I see the excitement in the athletes, I see the school spirit it creates, and I see the students, alumni, and even the community at large feel the camaraderie of being an ARGO.
What impact do you think your annual donations have on the UWF athletic department?
I hope my donations help the athletic department have the resources they need to assist all of the student athletes and programs, and to affirm that the department has our support to continue to grow programs and add new ones.
What makes you passionate about UWF athletics?
The student-athletes! It only takes attending one Student-Athlete Banquet to realize how special our student-athletes really are. The awards, trophies, and championships are all very impressive but when you hear the GPA's they maintain and the academic awards they receive, while performing in their sport as well as they do, it is about impossible to not want to do something to help support their efforts and hard work.
