Henderson's Huge Night Sends Argos Soaring Past Hawks

Argos look to stay hot Saturday at West Georgia

ROME, Ga. – UWF men's basketball made it six wins in the last eight games with a convincing 92-64 victory at Shorter Thursday night. Jarrett Henderson posted a double-double with 31 points and 10 rebounds. Jon Brown scored 24 points and grabbed five steals.

"I thought we played a little bit in spurts, but we had enough spurts and longer spurts than them," said UWF head coach Jeff Burkhamer. "We got off to a good start, didn't finish the [first] half well and then came out and started the second half really well. Didn't play well real well in the middle of the second half, but really finished the game on a great run."

Henderson turned in a magnificent performance from the field, knocking down 13-of-14 shots. He also hit 5-of-6 free throws on the night. The senior has turned in an incredible stretch of basketball over the last week. He has now scored 80 combined points over the Argos' last three games. The double-double was his fifth of the season.

Brown helped the Argo attack with 24 points of his own on 9-of-12 shooting from the field, 1-of-1 shooting from beyond the arc and 5-of-5 shooting from the line. He scored the team's first seven points.

The Argos built a 49-37 lead at the break behind strong early play from Henderson and Brown. The team reeled off a 24-10 run with 9:10 remaining in the second to seal the game.

Henri Ventoniemi scored 14 points and grabbed six rebounds. Rashaan Benson finished with four points, four rebounds and seven assists. Bryan Chalifoux recorded eight points, five rebounds and four assists.

UWF shot 38-of-62 (.612) from the field for the game. The team was 12-of-13 (.923) from the line. The 38 made field goals were the most for the Argos in a single game this season. The 92 points equaled the highest scoring output of the season for the team. UWF also grabbed 44 rebounds, just one off its season-high. The squad's 14 steals were its most vs. a conference opponent in 2018-19.

Shorter was led by Thomas Drew, who scored 17 points. Four Hawks finished the night in double figures.
