PENSACOLA, Fla.– The 20th-ranked UWF women's basketball team suffered through its worst shooting night of the season, making just 24 percent in a 48-45 loss to West Georgia in the VisitSpaceCoast.com Gulf South Conference Tournament Quarterfinals at the UWF Field House Tuesday.

UWF (23-5) was led by senior Toni Brewer's 26 points and 17 rebounds. It was the GSC Player of the Year's 20th double-double. Danielle Norquest and D'Asia Collins had six points.

West Georgia jumped out to an 11-2 lead in the game's opening six minutes. The Argos pulled to within one early in the second quarter but were unable to take the lead. The Wolves scored five points in the final 20 seconds of the half on baskets by A'Kia Harris and a buzzer-beater 3-pointer by Jessica Brown to take a 29-20 lead into the intermission.

After UWG opened the third with a basket from Harris, UWF outscored the visitors 15-3 over the next nine minutes for a 35-34 advantage heading into the fourth period. The Argonauts held the lead for the majority of the final frame before the Wolves took a 46-44 lead on a Brown jumper in the lane.

Each team made 1-of-2 free throws in the final two minutes before UWF send the Wolves to the line with 2.6 seconds left. Brown made one free throw before UWF got a rebound and called timeout to setup a final play with 1.0 seconds to play.
