UWF Day of Play Takes Center Stage at Baseball/Softball Contests This Weekend

The baseball, softball and tennis programs will all be at home Friday and Saturday


PENSACOLA, Fla. – The UWF athletics department will help kickoff 2019 Founders Week on Saturday with the Day of Play at the East Sports Complex on the Pensacola campus.
 
The Day of Play at UWF opens with the Argo Mile at 11 a.m., with bounce houses, laser tag and other fun activities continuing at Noon.
 
The Argo Mile is a 1-mile race for anyone ages seven and older. Every runner must write a predicted time in order to be placed in a heat.There will be a free "Little Mile" race for kids six and under. It will be the first event and consists of one lap around the track. Runners will receive a medal for finishing. 

This event is part of UWF Founders Week, a weeklong celebration of the University's founding. Learn more at uwf.edu/foundersweek.
 
The UWF baseball and softball teams will each play a doubleheader against Lee, beginning at 1 p.m. The Argonaut tennis programs will face Christian Brothers at 9 a.m. at the Ralph "Skeeter" Carson Tennis complex, before moving to the Roger Scott Tennis Center for a 3 p.m. match against Mississippi College.
 
All three programs will also play home contests on Friday, with tennis at home at 9 a.m. and Noon, softball at 4 p.m. and baseball at 6 p.m.
 
Head women's basketball coach Stephanie Lawrence Yelton and senior All-American/Gulf South Conference Player of the Year Toni Brewer will throw out the ceremonial first pitch at Friday's softball game. Men's basketball standout Jon Brown, who won the GSC Freshman of the Year award, will throw out the first pitch at baseball on Saturday.

Admission is free to all of the games this weekend.
