PENSACOLA, Fla. – No. 6/19 UWF baseball scored six times in the seventh and eighth innings to erase a 4-1 deficit and defeat GSC rival West Alabama 7-4 Friday.
Adam Imwalle and
Trevor Payne each picked up three RBIs.
The Argos close the regular season with a doubleheader beginning at 1:00 p.m. Saturday. Senior Day festivities will begin at approximately 12:30 with 10 seniors honored on the field before the start of the action.
Daniel Floyd got the start for the Argos. The junior struck out six but also allowed four runs (four earned) over 3.2 innings. The Argo bullpen corps of
Dylan Mills-Derouen,
Josh Pahlad,
Jay Simpson,
Hunter Lucas, and
Kirk Maddox provided scoreless relief.
Simpson pitched 2.1 innings of one-hit ball before Lucas induced a double play in the eighth. Lucas (1-0) earned his first win of the season.
Kirk Maddox earned his second save of the week and the season with a 1-2-3 ninth.
Matthew Estrada,
Matt Sullivan and Payne all scored twice. The Argos got out to a 1-0 lead in the first on an RBI single by Imwalle to score Payne before the Tigers scored four times in the fourth to seize the lead.
The Argos (31-14, 20-7 GSC) rallied in the seventh with a two-RBI triple by Payne and another RBI base hit by Imwalle to equalize the score at 4-4. Payne picked up an RBI double to highlight a three-run eighth that gave the Argos a 7-4 lead. Sullivan and Imwalle also had RBIs in the frame.
Kolby Crowley (3-8) dropped the decision for UWA after allowing all three runs in the eighth. Starter Cole Waites went seven innings, holding the Argos to four runs by striking out nine. He threw 136 pitches, also issuing five walks and one hit-by-pitch.

Saturday will be Senior Day at Jim Spooner Field as the Argos celebrate a large senior class that has led the program to 31 wins so far this season. The team will honor the contributions of

Andrew Vaccacio with a pregame ceremony. First pitch in the doubleheader vs. West Alabama (22-20, 9-16 GSC) is slated for 1:00 p.m.
