FULL POLL

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – For the second consecutive week, the University of West Florida softball team is ranked No. 1 in Division II, according to the National Fastpitch Coaches Assocation poll released on Wednesday. UWF is 33-5 overall and leads the Gulf South Conference with a 16-2 record in league play.

UWF is the first program to hold the No. 1 spot for more than one week in 2019. The Argonauts went 2-1 in GSC play against Shorter over the weekend and received 9 first-place votes – one more than the team received in last week's poll.

West Florida is one of three GSC teams in the top 25, joined by No. 7 Alabama Huntsville and No. 19 Valdosta State. Additionally, Mississippi College is receiving votes, and South Region rivals Florida Tech (No. 11) and Rollins (No. 24) are in the top 25.

The Argonauts have been one of the most well-rounded teams in the country this year, ranking third in winning percentage (.868), sixth in ERA (1.50), eighth in shutouts (11), 10th in batting average (.344), and 12th in fielding percentage (.974).

With inclement weather in the forecast, UWF has moved its series at Union up a day. The Argos will now play a single game at 4 pm on Friday and will wrap up the series with a Saturday doubleheader beginning at noon in Jackson, Tennessee.
