WINTER PARK, Fla. – The Argos suffered a tough loss in their road opener on Friday night, losing to Rollins College by a final score of 3-2. The Tars scored in the last minute of regulation to give them the lead and eventually the victory.
FIRST HALF: The first half was all Tars when it came to the scoreboard, as they scored two goals within two minutes of each other in the 31
st minute and the 33
rd minute. The Argos dominated time of possession with 80% in the first half, but were held to only two shots the entire half.
SECOND HALF: West Florida responded fast in the second half scoring a goal one minute into the half. Junior
Jessica Quixley picked up her first goal of the season in the 60
th minute off of a header from a corner kick to tie the game at two. Then the Tars scored in the 89
th minute to win the game 3-2.
OVERALL STATS: UWF outshot Rollins 15-8. West Florida had twelve corner kicks in tonight's match, while holding the Tars to only four.
NEXT UP: The Argos will take on Albany State at the UWF Soccer Complex on Sunday at 3pm CT in Pensacola, Florida. Albany State is (2-0) after beating Auburn-Montgomery tonight by a final score of 3-1. UWF is (2-0) all-time against Albany State and defeated the Golden Rams 5-0 last year in Albany, Georgia.
