MEMPHIS, Tenn. – The Argos opened Gulf South Conference play with a road loss to Christian Brothers University by a final score of 1-0 at Signaigo Field located in Memphis, Tennessee on Friday night.
FIRST HALF: In the first half both teams were held scoreless, as both defenses started the game strong. The Argos dominated time of possession throughout the entire game.
SECOND HALF: The only goal of the match came in the 58
th minute when CBU midfielder Meg Sander scored to give the Buccaneers the lead. West Florida had their opportunities as they outshot Christian Brothers 12-4 in the second half, but were unable to find the back of the net.
OVERALL STATS: UWF outshot CBU 23-5. West Florida had an impressive 17 total corner kicks in tonight's match, and held the Buccaneers to none.
NEXT UP: The Argos will continue their weekend road trip by visiting Union University at the Smith Memorial Complex on Sunday at 1pm CT in Jackson, Tennessee. Union is (2-2) overall after defeating Spring Hill tonight by a final score of 3-0. UWF is (6-1) all-time against Union, and is 3-1 at the Smith Memorial Complex.
