BOX SCORE
PENSACOLA, Fla. –  Tonight the Argos faced off against No. 13 Wheeling where UWF found themselves a step behind the Cardinals as they fall 1-3 in a tough battle. West Florida went 2-2 on the weekend with wins over Florida Tech and Spring Hill yesterday.Â
The Argos took the loss in close 25-20, 25-22, 25-16, 25-18 decisions winning only the second set. UWF was never too far behind and the Cardinals.Â
"I cannot be disappointed at all. Wheeling is a good team and they just have a way of making you turn into the team you don't ever want to be, where you can't find a rhythm and get into a system," Head Coach Melissa Wolter said. "They are a good team and I feel confident about going forward from here."
Kill leader for the Argos tonight was Senior Jordyn Poppen with 12 followed by Kierra Potts with 11 kills. Junior Ashton Marshall cleaned up in the back row with 24 digs and a service ace.
UWF had a rotating bench tonight with nine subs getting playing time. Junior transfer Julia Izquierdo came in the second and third set for defense and picked up a couple of digs along with Sophomore Sadie Hough getting playing time in the fourth set getting a block and two kills on seven attempts hitting a .286 for the set.Â

This year the Argos will face off first against Concordia-St. Paul who is ranked No. 5 in the AVCA Preseason Poll.Â
Next UWF will play Ferris State who is ranked No. 12 in the AVCA Preseason Poll. West Florida is known for their early tough schedule and it pays off for them in the end.Â
