PENSACOLA, Fla. – The UWF football program will host a ring ceremony to commemorate the program's first national championship from the 2019 season. The event will be held on Friday, Oct. 16 at Blue Wahoos Stadium.

The event is open to the public with limited capacity. Gates will open at 5 p.m.  and the ceremony will begin at 6 p.m. Speakers include Director of Athletics Dave Scott and Head Coach Pete Shinnick, along with select student-athletes and other dignitaries.

Fans can get their picture taken with the national championship trophy on the concourse. Replica rings and medallion pendants will be available to order following the event.

Masks are required in the ballpark, but can be removed when eating or drinking. The stadium's stands will also be open for seating with social distancing guidelines in place.

UWF went 13-2 in 2019 and won the program's first-ever NCAA Division II Football National Championship with one of the most impressive postseason runs in NCAA history. The Argonauts defeated three number one seeds and four undefeated teams in the NCAA Playoffs – becoming the first program in NCAA history to accomplish either feat. Additionally, the title came in the fourth year of the program's existence, matching the NCAA record for the fastest championship as a startup.

It was UWF's tenth team national title overall.
