CLEVELAND, Tenn. – The UWF women's basketball team ran into a hot-shooting 21st-ranked Lee squad in falling 80-58 at Paul Dana Walker Arena on Monday afternoon.
UWF (1-1) shot 31 percent and was only 5-of-24 from outside. Lee (1-0) got hot early and made 9-of-12 3-pointers in building a 52-24 lead at the half.
UWF outscored Lee 34-28 in the second half on the strength of a strong third quarter that saw the Argonauts connect on 54 percent of their shots.

Charlotte Ellmore led UWF with 13 points on 4-of-8 shooting, including a pair of 3-pointers. Senior

Gabby Brown finished with a career-high 11 rebounds to help UWF claim the battle on the boards, 44-37.
"We had open looks but just couldn't get the shots to fall tonight and Lee was able to," UWF head coach
Stephanie Lawrence Yelton said. "We did a better job in the second half and definitely gave ourselves something to build on entering a tough weekend in Montgomery coming up."
Haley Schubert paced three Lady Flames in double figures with 22 points on 9-of-11 from the floor. She also had six of the team's 15 steals and five of their 12 turnovers.
UWF is scheduled to return to play this weekend with road games at Auburn Montgomery (0-1) on Friday night at 6 p.m. CST and Saturday afternoon at 2 p.m.
