LIVINGSTON, Ala. – The UWF men's basketball team fell behind by double digits midway through the first half and never recovered, falling to West Alabama, 78-43, at Pruitt Hall on Saturday.
UWF (10-11, 7-7 Gulf South) shot 31 percent and committed 13 turnovers.
Tarik McKelphin led the Argonauts with 10 points and five rebounds.
Lawrence Williams and
Jon Brown had seven apiece.
UWA (16-5, 9-4) scored 14 points off the UWF turnovers and led by as many as 42 late in the game. Darron Johnson led four Tigers in double figures with 16 points and was one of three with three 3-pointers.
UWF trailed 15-9 with 12 minutes remaining in the first half when the Tigers used a 7-0 run to stretch their lead to 13 points. They took a 37-17 lead into the locker room at the break.
UWF will return home for a pair of games at the UWF Field House next week. Thursday's game against West Georgia (6-14, 4-8) will begin at 7:30 p.m.
